Each compact volume of this series is full of entertaining and effective animations that will capture the attention of young players. All video clips are actual match play - nothing's staged!
The Art of the Match
Most players walk off a tennis court and the first words out of their mouths are, "My forehand stunk today" or "I was tossing the ball wrong on my serve." In this first video Nick will teach the players to think strategically about themselves, their opponents, and those parts of a match that really affect competition. (Length: 18 minutes)
5 Minutes and Counting
The second video focuses on the preparation that is required to be ready to play. Players will benefit from a routine that prepares them to perform optimally from the very first point of the match. Nick gives some insight to help in this preparation. The second half of the video helps the viewers understand the art of scouting the opponent during the 5-minute warm-up and how to test for weaknesses which may help them at crucial times of a match. (Length: 19 minutes)
Strike First
In today's match play the person who controls the beginning of the point has every chance of winning that point. But what if you don't have a big serve or return of serve? Let Nick lead you through the strategies needed to gain control of the first part of a point. Rather than worrying about how many aces to hit, Nick points out that it is more important to get the ball back in play and confuse the opponent. (Length: 19 minutes)
The Heat of the Battle
The fourth video is divided into 4 parts, each designed to help players make better choices in a match. The first segment points out the best recovery positions based on where the balls were hit. The second segment discusses when to be aggressive and when to defend based on the opponent's shots. Thirdly, the viewer learns how to attack and finish points, all without swinging harder at the ball. And lastly, segment 4 explains the different patterns that can be hit in a tennis match and the level of difficulty of each of them. (Length: 21 minutes)
Battle Plans I
The last 2 volumes are by far the best. They are exactly what they claim to be: the battle plans to beat different types of opponents. How many times have we heard, "How do I beat the pusher?" Or, "How can I beat the all-court player?" In volume 5 the viewer will be treated to Nick's view of these styles of players. Know who they are, where they like to play from, how they think, and the plans needed to compete against them successfully. (Length: 31 minutes)
Battle Plans II
Adhering to the same format as in the previous volume, the first half of the sixth video covers the aggressive baseliners. By looking at them closely, the viewer will learn what makes them so dangerous in the game of tennis today. The second half covers the game and mentality of the serve and volley players. (Length: 34 minutes)
