Backhand Fixer

There are three primary types of one-handed backhands: a topspin groundstroke, a slice groundstroke, and a backhand volley. All three have one skill requirement in common: using the non-racket hand in concert with the hitting arm. The key lies in preparing the racket with the non-racket hand high up on the throat of the racket, thus relaxing the hitting hand. Then, there should be a rapid transfer of force with the racket hand aggressively taking the racket from the non-racket hand and the hands “splitting apart.” The racket hand takes the racket forward to strike the ball and the non-racket hand goes in the opposite direction. The hands literally split apart.

Simply place the Velcro around both wrists with the logo pointing upwards. Hit balls softly at first to feel how both arms should work together and then separate quickly. The Velcro should be pulled apart by the racket hand just as the ball is being struck. After a few shots with the Backhand Fixer in place, try hitting without it and make sure your hands are working in the same “splitting apart” manner. If not, repeat the process.
